You know that backup is important… after a failure of systems or a hacking event; losing data can be enough to end your business. Currently you may be using thumb drives or external hard drives or even tape to back up your data; but these systems aren’t the best option and can give a false sense of security. There was a time when antivirus was a massive product in the IT industry; and while the function of antivirus is still critical (as proven earlier this month with Apple devices seeing a major new malware threat in china with WireLurker) antivirus software on its own should no longer be your go to. You should expect more (and IT in business demands it) – 24/7 logging and health checks, patches & updates, PC performance improvements; remote support from your IT people; and a better resilience against down time. But I wanted to talk about the benefits of “Hosted Exchange” over “In House Exchange”, or other web providers email services such as POP3 or IMAP. Why should your business change? Because it's effortless.

Because technology is the platform we work on all day every day; turning off your system for upgrades, migrations or changes in day to day systems can be just as disruptive as turning out the lights. But you can’t let this be an element to stop you from becoming a better business using better technology. So; how can you go about making major changes without being too disruptive to business operations?

While the file sharing and storage company has denied the allegations and assure its clients that its services remain secure; a group of hackers threaten to release their 7 million long list of user accounts in exchange for bitcoin donations from the public. To further solidify their position they have released a random list of 400 user’s accounts today. The “400” identified so far have confirmed to have been accounts comprised by a 3rd part application associated with Dropbox (3rd party apps use your credentials to access data stored in your drop box account); in an incident that Dropbox itself had already closed.
